Take It From Our Members

Have you ever wondered why more than 250 000 people have joined 10.9 thousand Rotaract clubs across 184 countries? Maybe it’s the sense of being apart of something bigger? Maybe it’s the professional development aspect? Or maybe it’s for the community engagement? Why not check out why some of our members joined our club and why they love Rotaract and Rotary so much!

To meet new people & get involved in the community!
— Mira (2017)
I found out about Rotaract after spending my last two years in high school on our Interact club’s executive team. After moving to Ottawa for university in 2019, I knew I wanted to continue serving my community. Grateful to have met and to be volunteering alongside such passionate and hardworking individuals!
— Shruti (2017)
I joined Rotaract in 2017 when I started my University career out of curiosity mostly and I am always amazed at the energy, enthusiasm and camaraderie that these young adults have in their initiatives. Needless to say, this effort/time could be spent elsewhere but it is not! I like being hands-on in projects and I strongly believe that any action we take can lead to great benefits for others.
— Jose (2017)
I have been involved in Rotary International since 2009 when I began preparing for my Rotary Youth Exchange. In 2013 I joined the Rotaract Club of Ottawa to meet new people outside of my university faculty. My favourite thing about being a member of the Rotary International family is the incredible people I have met, and the lifelong friends I have made both in Ottawa and around the world.
— Laura (2009)
My first experience with Rotary was in 2018 when I was a participating student a the ‘Adventure’s in Citizenship’ program, organized by the Ottawa Rotary Club, which influenced me to go to the University of Ottawa. I joined the Rotaract Club of Ottawa during my first year of university as a way to be involved in my community and meet friends who enjoyed doing acts of service. I love being able to help others while also having a lot of fun, making lasting connections along the way!
— Heather (2018)
I had been a part of my Interact club in high school and was fortunate enough to attend RYLA and I really enjoyed it. However, it wasn’t until my third year of university when I finally joined the Rotaract Club of Ottawa, my only regret is that I didn’t join sooner! I joined for more volunteer experience but have grown to love the professional developpment aspect of it.

To be more connected to and provide support to my community.
