Service Above Self BUT Self-Care

Hello everyone,
Last week there was no blog post because I was taking time for myself and spend time with my friends for thanksgiving which leads me to our upcoming project, Self-Care Sunday! We all know how important it is to help members of our community, but we often forget to help ourselves. Self-care is not selfish, it’s necessary. I heard someone say that "if you don’t take time to rest your body will make time for you” meaning if you don’t take care of yourself you might end up getting sick thus forcing you to rest.

In order to help others you need to be kind to yourself. It’s like when you take an airplane, they tell you in the event of an emergency, always put your oxygen mask before you help others. This is why we want to remind everyone to take some time to do things they enjoy. Self-care looks different for everyone, some people enjoy doing a facemask, yoga, turning off their phone or sleeping. Whatever you enjoy doing, take time to do that. Giving yourself a break will help you in many aspects of your life and prevent you from burning out.

Until next time,
Tori
