The Four-Way Test : Crash Course

4waybeertest

Good afternoon, I saw this meme the other day and it’s a play on Rotary’s Four-Way test, and it occurred to me that some people don’t know what it is or when/why we use it.

Here are the 4 questions to ask yourself :
1.     Is it the truth?
2.     Is it fair to all concerned?
3.     Will it build goodwill and better friendships
4.     Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

When to use it? Short answer, ALWAYS. Use it in your personal life, professional life and philanthropic adventures, whether your speaking to colleagues, clients, peers, management, friends or family etc.

Why use it? Originally invented by a businessman and Rotarian, Herbert J. Taylor, and later adopted by Rotary in 1943, to guide Rotarians in pursuing a meaningful and ethical life in all aspects. It serves as the foundation philosophy of Rotary (along with Service Above Self) for everyone involved at all levels of Rotary to make smart and ethical decisions.

Thank you for reading, another new post will be up next Monday :)
